After reviewing my running log, I realized that my shoes had
over 300 miles on them so I was pretty positive that they were the cause. So Wednesday
evening when I decided that I would go for a run on Thursday morning, I pulled
out my new shoes that have been waiting patiently in my closet and put them
with my running gear for the morning. When my alarm went off Thursday morning,
I dressed and was out the door. I had already decided that I was going to just
do 2 miles and to keep it at a slow comfortable pace so I could “test the
waters.”
It felt really good to be back out running (I was going a
little stir crazy without my running). I kept to the comfortable pace and
constantly assessed how my leg was feeling. My leg felt fine during the run and
after and is still doing great today!
While I was logging my run, I discovered that my easy,
comfortable pace is around 11:45 minutes/mile! I was a little bit surprised by
this because I was so used to 12:30 or more being my pace. It just goes to show
that all this hard work that I have been putting in is helping and I am
improving.
